This 16 hour, 350 round live fire course provides realistic and relevant tactical gun handling skills. This course exceeds the training requirement necessary to obtain the Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL), Maryland Permit to Carry a Handgun and Utah Concealed Firearms Permit (CFP). In addition to the minimum requirements issued by the Maryland State Police and Utah BCI, this course will:
- Cover the fundamentals of handgun safety, operation and marksmanship
- Discuss Maryland, Utah and Federal gun law
- Review self-defense law
- Provide the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively carry a holstered, concealed firearm on a regular basis
- Teach fundamental and practical techniques for efficient and effective presentation of a handgun from a holster
- Provide entry level training for reloads and malfunctions
- Discuss mindset, awareness, shoot/don't shoot scenarios, etc...
- Progress from engaging single targets to multiple targets in single strings of fire
- Require you to engage both paper and steel targets
- Induce fire under stress scenarios using timed and competitive strings of fire
- Provide techniques to allow you shoot and move as well as shoot on the move
Students should plan to bring:
- 350 rounds of ammunition
- Boxed lunch
- Firearm, 3 magazines, OWB holster, magazine pouch (Loaner Firearms Available)
- Weather appropriate clothing as we will shoot rain or shine
- Pants with a stiff belt for drawing from holster exercises
- Quality eye and ear protection (will be provided if necessary)

**While this course satisfies all the requirements as issued by the Maryland State Police, North Harford Firearms Training does not guarantee that the applicant will receive the Maryland Permit To Carry a Handgun.
The course will be 9am-5pm each day.
